Welcome to my online diary, enjoy your stay!
There is a very good article today written in a upclose and personal account by a journalist for the BBC; and it tells of the wonderful idea of Tehren Iran loaning an exhibit to the British
world and of course the entire world that travels to The British Museum. The article is about
the history of Shah Abbas of Iran, and includes the loan of the Cyrus
Cylinder to the British Museum.I quote from the article:
"Created on the orders of Cyrus the Great, the Persian king who
invaded Babylon and freed the people from slavery and tyranny,
the clay object is a sort of 2,500-year-old Middle East roadmap."
and another quote:"The declaration, made in 539 BC, allowed
the Jews, who'd been enslaved by Nebuchadnezzar after the
destruction of Jerusalem, to return home. "
This greatly appeals to me because I read voraciously The Holy Bible and I know
some of the history of the Medes and Persians as they were called in the days
of the Old Testament. I also know that the countries of Iraq and Iran will
continue to the time of Armageddon according to Revelation in the Bible and
that they will play a prominent role in that final meltdown of the physical
earth. It seems to me that they were the places where GOD chose to begin the
human race and also will be where HE chooses to end it,
as we know it on this earth. Armageddon is the Final War that destroys
the physical planet, before GOD's Judgement Day, when souls are sent either to
heaven or to hell.
And it seems to me that it is an outstretched hand in a way from the Arabs to the Jews offering a
slice of historical precedence to peaceful relationships between Arabs and Jews. And thank
GOD! I think the Christian world especially is still fascinated by the historical relevance of
everything that happens from the nation of Iran and his neighbor Iraq. For more on this topic
of those nations in antiquity, read another blog entry of mine at http://gloriapoole.com/defiant about
those nations.
